Maria Tsami

Mrs. Maria Tsami is a Spatial Planning and Development Engineer (MSc) and a PhD candidate in the department of Civil Engineering at the University of Thessaly. She is also holding an MSc degree in the field of Information and Communication Computer Systems, specializing in Intelligent Computer Systems. Since 2011, she is a scientific researcher of the Traffic, Transportation and Logistics Laboratory at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Thessaly, and since 2012, she is a scientific researcher of the Hellenic Institute of Transport. Her core research activity focuses on dynamic transit modeling taking into account information and quality of service indicators. She has been involved in numerous national and European projects and actions related to transportation planning and monitoring (urban-interurban),road safety, resilience management, social behavior of travelers, transit assignment and intelligent transportation systems. A shortlist of selected projects of her research involvement includes: “Open social transportnetwork for urban approach to carpooling-SocialCar» (HORIZON 2020), “IN LIFE: Independent Living support Functions for the Elderly”(HORIZON 2020), “RESilience management guidelines and Operationalization applied to Urban Transport Environment” (HORIZON 2020), “City-HUB”(FP7), “South East Europe-Intelligent Transport Systems-SEE-ITS” (FP7), “e-drive Academy” (Hellenic Ministry of Transport), “Traveler behavioral modelling” (Hellenic Ministry of Education). She has also conducted research regarding the social networks, including game theory analysis, social networks effects and collective intelligence.She is member of the COST action TU1004 (Modelling Public Transport Passenger Flows in the Era of Intelligent Transport Systems) and the COST action TU1305 (Social networks and travel behaviour).She has participated in numerous national and international conferences and workshops, and she has in her record more than 60 publications including scientific papers published in journals and conference proceedings, project deliverables, scientific books and book chapters.
